Compassion Ministry at Kingdom Vineyard

One of our values, the 4 W’s, is Works. We believe social justice and care for those in need are key facets of God’s kingdom, not optional extras.

Our mission as a Compassion Ministry is to partner with God to share his love and care for our community.

Compassion Ministry: Vision & Values

Lucy, our Compassion Pastor, gave a talk about this mission and the ways we can all be part of sharing God’s heart of compassion with the people and places around us. You can listen to it here.

Storehouse

Storehouse is a foodbank serving the most vulnerable people in our community of North east Fife, founded by Kingdom Vineyard in 2006.

People can find themselves in need of the support Storehouse offers for so many different reasons; those we serve may have lost their job, experienced a family break-up, be victims of domestic violence, or had their benefits delayed or suspended. In desperate times we are able to meet their immediate need for food and other practical items, and extend God’s kindness to them.

We run drop-in sessions at the North East Fife Community Hub every week for those who are struggling to make ends meet to come and receive food. Read more about the work we do and how to access the foodbank by visiting the Storehouse website.

Games & Giveaway

For the past few summers, we have run a community event instead of a typical Sunday service. We open Storehouse for an extra drop-in, put on a spread of BBQ food, live music, face painting and games and invite our Storehouse community along for a couple of hours of fun. This is also an opportunity for the whole church to get involved with compassion and extend community towards our guests in a Jesus-loving way. Fancy running a game or helping with serving food? Look out for the next event and how you can get involved.

Community at Storehouse

During the Storehouse drop-in sessions, our clients are encouraged to sit in the cafe at the Community Hub, get a drink and a bite to eat. We have a team of volunteers whose job is to make connections and build community with folks in the cafe. We also see it as an opportunity to intentionally share Jesus with people in a way that is authentic, loving, and comes alongside people where they are at. If this is something you feel a nudge to get involved with, please get in touch, Lucy would love to chat with you!

Hope at the Hub

On a Thursday afternoon following the Storehouse drop-in session, we join with the Baptist Church and Pilgrim Care to run a short midweek bible study at the St Davids Centre. It provides a safe and informal space for people to get to know God and meet with Him through opening up the bible, asking questions and praying for each other.

How can I get involved?

  1. Pray! We want to continually seek the Lord’s leading for our Compassion Ministry and cover everything we do in prayer. Please join us in praying for lives to be transformed through the work we do. If you get a sense of anything the Lord is saying, please share it with Lucy.

  2. Volunteer! If you’d like to get involved with any of the above please get in touch with Lucy. Grab a chat on a Sunday, or email lucy@kingdomvineyard.com

  3. Donate food! You can bring along donations to church or drop them off at other donation points around town. For more information on what and how to donate click here.

  4. Donate money! For anyone who wishes to donate to Storehouse financially you can do so in a few different ways. Follow the link below to head to the Storehouse give page for all the details.
