In this last talk we saw the emphasis Paul places on prayer in the conclusion of this letter. This leaves two other "P" words, equally essential if we want to acquire a deeper life in Christ.
In the conclusion of Paul's letter to the Colossians, he mentions as "givens" three elements he regards as essential parts of the Christian life, but which are sadly neglected today. The first of them is Prayer.
We should live our whole lives for God - seeking to glorify Him in all our relationships. Let us be ambassadors for God right here. Right now.
Our hearts should be focused on Jesus, a heart of forgiveness, of thankfulness, of love and of worship.
The way to holiness, the way to transformation is to set our minds on Jesus, so we starve the sin in our lives.
Paul reveals the church as a divine, not a human institution, and challenges us all to accept our God-ordained privilege in building it up.
We must keep connected with Jesus and one another to avoid the pitfalls of adding to or diluting the Gospel.
Paul describes his work as the servant of a mystery: the gospel of Christ, and what motivates his sacrificial commitment to it.
Paul proclaims the majesty of Jesus, the invisible God made visible.
Paul's initial greeting and prayer, sets the tone for the whole letter: "The Gospel of Christ is Sufficient!"
